veki

Terms of service

Last updated 18 October 2026

The short version

  • Your cards are yours. We store them only to run veki for you.
  • Clips you take from videos are for your own study. Don't share them as your own content.
  • veki is in early access: it works, but things will change and the occasional bug will slip through.
  • After 7 free days veki is a paid plan, sold by Paddle. Cancel any time; 14 days to change your mind.
  • You can download your data and leave at any time.

These terms

In short: by using veki, you agree to these terms and our privacy policy.

These terms are an agreement between you and veki ("we", "us"), run from Denmark. They cover the veki app, the veki browser extension and the website veki.app (together, "veki"). How we handle your personal data is described in our privacy policy.

Who can use veki

In short: anyone aged 13 or over. Under 18, ask a parent first.

You must be at least 13 years old to use veki. If you're under 18, you need permission from a parent or guardian, who also accepts these terms on your behalf.

Your account

In short: keep your sign-in safe. Your account is just for you.

  • Give a real email address, so you can recover your account and receive important notices.
  • Keep your password safe, and tell us at support@veki.app if you think someone else has used your account.
  • An account is for one person. Don't share it or sell it.

Your cards are yours

In short: you own what you create. We only use it to run veki for you.

Everything you put into veki (cards, notes, tags, audio and pictures) stays yours. You give us permission to store, copy, process and show it only as needed to run veki for you: saving it, syncing it to your devices, playing your audio and scheduling your reviews. That permission ends when you delete the content or your account, apart from the short time it takes to clear our backups.

We don't publish your cards or share them with other users. If we ever add sharing, it will be something you choose to do for each deck.

Clips from videos

In short: short clips for your own study are what veki is for. Respect the creators.

veki lets you keep a few seconds of audio or a screen picture from something you're watching, to study it. Keep these clips for your own learning. Don't use veki to copy whole works, and don't republish or share clips in ways that break the rights of the people who made them. You're responsible for what you capture and keep. If a rights holder believes content in veki breaks their rights, they can write to support@veki.app.

Fair use

In short: use veki to learn, not to attack it or other people.

Don't:

  • try to get into other people's accounts or data, or into parts of veki you aren't meant to reach;
  • disrupt or overload veki, get around its limits, or scrape it with bots;
  • upload malware, or use veki to store or spread illegal content;
  • resell veki or offer it to others as your own service.

If you do, we may limit or close your account, as described in section 10.

veki's software

In short: you may use veki, but its software, name and logo stay ours.

We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use veki while your account is open. The veki software, design, name and logo belong to us. Third-party parts, such as the CC-CEDICT dictionary, keep their own licences.

Early access

In short: veki is new and will keep changing.

veki is in early access. We'll add, change and sometimes remove features as it grows, and some may stop working while we do. We keep backups, but while veki is young we recommend exporting your cards from time to time.

Ending your account

In short: you can leave at any time. We only close accounts for good reason.

  • You can delete your account at any time in the app (Manage → Account). Your data is then deleted as described in the privacy policy.
  • We may suspend or close an account that seriously or repeatedly breaks these terms. Unless the law or safety prevents it, we'll tell you why first and give you a chance to download your data.
  • If we ever shut veki down, we'll give you at least 60 days' notice to export your cards.

What we promise

In short: we do our best, but we can't promise veki will always be perfect.

We work hard to keep veki available, correct and secure, but we provide it "as is". We can't promise it will be free of errors or always available. This doesn't affect any rights you have as a consumer that can't be waived by law.

Liability

In short: our liability is limited, except where the law says it can't be.

As far as the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect or unforeseeable losses, such as lost study time or lost profits. Our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or €50 if that's more. Nothing in these terms limits liability for intent, gross negligence, death or personal injury, or anything else the law doesn't allow us to limit.

Changes

In short: we'll tell you before important changes. If you disagree, you can leave.

We may update these terms as veki changes. For important changes, we'll tell you by email or in the app at least 30 days before they take effect. If you don't agree, you can delete your account before then. Continuing to use veki afterwards means you accept the new terms.

Law and disputes

In short: Danish law applies, and you keep the protections of your home country.

These terms are governed by Danish law. If you're a consumer in the EU, you also keep the mandatory protections of the country you live in, and you can bring a claim in your local courts. If something goes wrong, please write to us first. Most problems are easier to solve that way.
